Exploring Indigenous Wisdom
How can we understand where we are now if we don’t understand the roots of our being?
Weaving a new story —
one where Indigenous and non-Indigenous worlds coexist in mutual care, respect, and reciprocity.
Unlearning as a mindset
Our experiences with Indigenous communities have shown us a difficult truth: most people raised within a modern Western lifestyle tend to operate from a colonized mind—unconsciously shaped by values of control, progress, and individualism.
Realizing that we ourselves were the colonizers was painful. Accepting this uncomfortable truth opened us to a deeper question:
What do we need to unlearn in order to be in right relation with our Indigenous brothers and sisters?
This question now guides how we move forward.
As we continue to walk alongside Indigenous communities, we stay committed to noticing, naming, and unlearning the patterns that keep us disconnected—from each other, from the land, and from our shared humanity. Each lesson becomes part of a growing body of knowledge we hope will support other Westerners who feel ready to unlearn—and who are willing to walk a different path with humility, kindness, and respect.

Mama Toto's Plantation
Mama Toto is a respected leader in a village near Lambaréné, Gabon, where many live modestly due to the lasting effects of French colonialism. Though the community owns fertile land, access remains difficult. To change this, Mama Toto is creating a path to her farmland and planting Iboga—a sacred tree used for healing and ceremony. Her efforts aim to nourish her people and revive a vital cultural tradition.
